Published Standards

The Standards listed and linked below are based, in whole or in significant part, on work done by SWGDOC to originate and maintain standards for the field of forensic document examination.  In the past SWGDOC's efforts were channeled through a private standardization development organization where participants were charged an annual membership fee and non-members were charged for each standard.

Now, however, SWGDOC is taking a different route and the standards will be made available to all free of charge as SWGDOC continues to update and enhance extant standards and generate new ones.  As in the past, SWGDOC standards are based on the efforts of numerous examiners from the public and private sectors along with individuals in the legal and academic worlds.  The broad range of input and thorough peer review of this process produces the highest quality standards-standards that can be used to produce reliable examination results.
